I've decided to give up this blog. I hardly post as much as I would like to, and I feel that it's not as interesting as I'd like for it to be.
Instead of posting here, I've made a Tumblr that is updated much more often. If you'd like to check it out, here it is: ruebeeknits.tumblr.com

FOs + New Yarnz
It's been a while since I've posted, but for good reason. I moved into a new apartment for uni, and it took a bit of time to settle in. There's still been some knitting, though! My next FO comes with a story. While visiting family in Louisiana, I went to bingo with my Maw-Maw about five times. I never one a SINGLE game, and my parents were tired of me spending money and losing. Maw-Maw won a game ($50) on my last time going to bingo, and she gave me $25 to "pretend" like I won. I told her that I didn't want to take money from her, but she wouldn't take it back. Therefore, I decided to buy some yarn and knit her something that she could use: slippers!
This has to be the easiest, most simple knit. It's definitely a pattern that I can knit again and again. Since this yarn did not take up the whole $25, I spent the rest on more yarn. JoAnn's has an AMAZING selection! Who knew?
I also sewed a project bag! This one is special to me because it's made out of fabric from my favorite dress. One day the zipper snagged, and trying to repair it only made it worse. The lining is made out of fabric from curtains that I hemmed for my mom, and the drawstring is a shoelace from my never-worn Converse.
As I said, my stash has grown since my last post. I ordered some yarn from 100purewool, and it is so soft and pretty! While searching for opinions on the yarn before buying, I heard a lot of questionable things about 100purewool. Things like it takes forever for them to ship your yarn, the colors being way off and stuff like that. Luckily, the yarn got to me in about 2 and a half weeks and the colors were exactly as advertised!
The yarn that I bought at Joann's isn't as soft, but it's pretty neat, too. I can't tell if the Serenity Sock is self-striping or not. It doesn't say it on the paper, but the projects using it on Ravelry look as if they are. The Sensations Cuddle Muffin is amazing. It makes a beautiful pattern when knit up, and I am definitely using it for a pair of stockinette socks.
School starts in a week, so things are probably going to be slow knit-wise. Hopefully I'll have more to share soon.
